MT Thaler is an investment manager specialising in credit. The MT Thaler team includes 4 senior investment managers each with more than 15 years experience in investment management. MT Thaler was founded in 2003 to implement an investment methodology which aims to exploit the inefficiencies in financial markets and generate absolute returns. The MT Thaler product portfolio includes the MT Thaler Short Term Bond Fund the MT Thaler Credit Opportunity Fund and the ISCS High Yield Bond Fund. Additionally, the MT Thaler Loan Workout and Restructuring Team works with clients investing in distressed loans and securities, as well as with banks restructuring loan portfolios.
MT Thaler`s investment managers are constantly screening the credit markets to identify specific situations in government and corporate bonds, interest and exchange rates that offer compelling opportunities. Once a potential opportunity is identified, we analyse how the security trades on a relative value basis. Fundamental analysis is used to identify security-specific issues such as quality of earnings, corporate competitiveness and cash flow. Finally, we analyse macro-economic and political events in the case of sovereign securities and currencies. The goal of the analysis is to identify the key catalysts likely to drive security prices.
We use an opportunistic, bottom-up portfolio construction process that incorporates VaR analyses, stress tests and a strict and simple stop-loss limit. We rely not only on internal risk management models, but also on the resources of our partner company, NewAlpha, a subsidiary of France`s leading fund management group, OFI.
